Sahwira Houseboat

Sahwira is a generous twin‑float pontoon vessel measuring approximately 26 metres in length and 8.8 metres in beam, designed to host up to 26 guests across a total of thirteen en‑suite cabins including two executive air‑conditioned suites on the upper deck and eleven convertible cabins downstairs fitted with fans that can switch between twin or double configuration. Powered by twin Volvo engines and supported by two 220 V diesel generators alongside an inverter system, the boat cruises serenely at around five knots though note that generators must be turned off by 10 p.m. under Lake Kariba regulations, meaning overnight cooling relies on fans and air conditioning only when generators restart. The upper deck is a social hub with a splashpool, teak bar counters, an ice maker, under‑bar fridges, a deep freezer and a deluxe sound system while the interior holds a fully equipped galley with multiple fridges, gas range, oven, microwave, pantries and store rooms. For excursions, two roofed six‑metre pontoon tender boats ferry guests on crew‑driven fishing or wildlife cruises, though those with a valid skipper’s licence may helm a tender themselves. Boarding typically begins at 11:30 a.m. with disembarkation around 10:30 a.m. the following day, and the crew of five—including captain, chef and three deckhands—ensures meals, linen, cleaning, and shore transfers are handled smoothly.
